They are used for the armouring of subsea cables, providing protection against mechanical stress, tensile forces, installation loads, corrosion, biofouling and damage from marine organisms. Additionally, they can fill gaps within the cable, maintaining its shape and supporting the proper placement of components such as optical fibres, conductors, and insulation tubes.
