The new role introduced in Thrace Group’s organizational chart further enhances the management team’s capabilities in the areas of circular economy and sustainable development, both being main pillars of Group’s Strategy. The Chief Sustainability Officer will have a central role in fully aligning the Group's sustainable development strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In response to the “European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy”, Thrace Group aspires to further incorporate in its business the circular economy model, by applying the practices of reduction, reuse and recycling, to optimize its environmental footprint.

Mr. Ioannis Sideris is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business with a degree in Business Administration and holds a Master's degree in Information Systems Development from the London School of Economics. He has significant experience in the fields of sustainable development, environmental protection and integrated solid waste management in the context of the circular economy, as he was the CEO of the Hellenic Recycling Organization (EOAN) and for a number of years responsible for environmental issues in local government authorities.

Mr. Dimitris Malamos, CEO of the Group stated: "The transition from the linear economy to the circular economy model has been a great challenge for us over the past years, thus determining our strategy and creating unique opportunities for further development and growth. Fully in line with the European strategy for plastics, our Group has implemented initiatives to embrace the circular economy model and reduce its environmental footprint. Within this context, we have voluntarily pledged to the European Union that, by 2025, we will replace 8,500 tons of virgin raw materials with recycled ones, for the manufacturing of our products. I am confident that the specialization, the technical knowledge and the determination of Mr. Sideris, will help us to further strengthen existing collaborations inside and outside the Group and will accelerate the implementation of our action plan towards the transition to the circular economy model".
